TITLE : A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CREATIVE THINKING IN RELATION TO INTELLIGENCE OF 10 TH CLASS SCHOOL STUDENTS OF DISTRICT YAMUNA NAGAR

Abstract : Creative thinking results in products (poem, pictures, experiments, learned articles, etc.), the quality of which makes us call them ‘original’, ‘creative’, or ‘imaginative’. The layman is apt to believe that the thought processes and activities which results in the admirable product must be quite exceptional -utterly different from those which he indulges in through the humdrum routine of his everyday life. But is this really the case? Is the creative thinker a special kind of man or only a man whom special training, skill, somewhat more competent than others?
Creativity, like intelligence is a many faced concept. Each term covers many abilities identified with relatively independent factors
Inspite of the fact that intelligence or creativity may function independently and creativity involves more of divergent thinking as opposed to the convergent thinking employed in the demonstration of intelligence, it is not possible to entirely separate creativity from intelligence. This is because thinking is neither purely divergent nor purely convergent and always has elements of both which are simultaneously involved in the creative and the intellectual process. It, therefore, follows that when a person is considered to be creative, he has to have a minimum level of intelligence certainly above the average.
The present study was carried out to know the relation of intelligence and different dimensions of creativity of 10 th class school students in Yamuna nagar district of Haryana.
