TITLE:
URBAN LAND TRANSFORMATION OF YAMUNA NAGAR CITY: A CASE STUDY
ABSTRACT:
Economic growth is inextricably linked to urbanization, which alters the environment by displacing forests and agriculture and converting concrete and impermeable surfaces. Urbanization also highlights the links between human activity and its effects on the environment. This is particularly important in regions of the world that are changing quickly, as it may be too late to take mitigation action due to cumulative development effects. The goal of this analysis of Yamuna Nagar city land transformation is to show how valuable it is to dynamically map the features of urban land transformation using satellite data and other geographic information. This study provides a clear illustration of the pattern of development and transformation and demonstrates how the expansion of contemporary urbanization leads to changes in the natural environment. The analysis showed that Yamuna Nagar city saw a significant change in land use and land cover during the course of the study period, which spanned 30 years (1991 to 2021). By extending the city’s estimate of the research period from 1991 to 2021 to the productive agricultural fields in its periphery, these changes were validated.
